In 2009, 69 wild fires burned the the California countryside.  the Station Fire, in the slopes above Los Angeles, burned from August 26th to October 16th. It destroyed over 200 structures and two fire fighters lost their lives in the blaze.  It was the largest wild fire in the modern history of Los Angeles County.
